your dear szern went for blood donation together with liling and clara on thursday (September 11. how meaningful). all three of them wanted to donate blood during their 1 hour break. however, things took longer than expected and they had no choice but to skip lecture. o0ps... shh.... it's their first time ponning a lecture in uni! YES!
i SMS-ed weiling to inform her that we would be ponning lecture. weiling called me back and said that chiling and herself would be ponning lecture as well!!! WAHAHA~!!! so on man~!!! so the five of us ponned the (b-o-r-i-n-g) contemp lecture. i'm so hoping jillian's not reading this.
but anyway, i think i'm super lucky to be able to donate. well, my bp was a bit on the low side (100/60) that day. the normal blood pressure should be 120/80. and i was very sure i was underweight (i.e. under the 45kg requirement to donate blood!!!). so i stuffed my keys and handphone into my pockets before going for the examination. and i didn't take off my shoes as well!!! haha. o0px...
my iron count was 12.8. the minimum level required for blood donation is 12.5. clara's was 12.1 while liling's was 12.3. so means, they couldn't donate~!!! so sad. so, they became my supporters instead!!! keke.

anyway, please don't get mad at us for skipping lecture. we were just subscribing to the Utilitarian theory. the theory places the locus of right and wrong solely on the OUTCOME of the actions, not the person performing the action. in this case, being nurses, we value the sanctity of life. blood donation might save a life. this to us, is more important than attending a lecture.
yea~!!! purple bandage for the second time in a row!!! my first was a pink. second was a purple. third was a purple as well =) it's nice can? lavender.... hee =D and yes, that's my blood! i have really small eyes. argh~!!! sianx. randoms.
oh ya! i'm extremely touched cos i donated one FULL packet of blood!!!! the previous 2 times were only half full for me! i'm so happy! means, my blood flow should be ok le =) haha. the nurses had to RUSH over to pull the needle out cos the bag was full of blood. a little too full in fact! haha.
blood donation + menses + slept at 3am the day before = an EXTREMLY chui szern.
now szern has low Hb count. means less blood and oxygen to her brain cos 1 Hb molecule has 2 alpha and 2 beta chains. each chain binds to 1 heme group. means there are a total of 4 Heme groups which binds to 1 02 molecule each. this means there's a total of 4 02 molecules. 1 Hb less = 4 less 02 molecules to the brain. therefore, you cannot blame szern for being a little to slow this period of time... around... 7 days? cos it takes about 7 days for the kidneys to secret more erythropoietin to induce the formation of more RBC in the bone marrow and for the RBCs to mature (reticulocytes -> RBCs, after removal of nucleus). currently, if my blood undergoes a hematocrit, it'll show 10% of reticulocytes and 30% RBC approx. normal levels: reticulocytes =1%, RBC = 45%.
please ignore the above paragraph if you don't get anything. i was recapping my Blood lecture. wahaha....
