i got a rude shock when i saw this on IVLE:

"Currently MOH has suspended student attendance for clinical placements until 18th May 2009.

This means that there will be NO clinical placement for next week.

It is anticipated that this suspension may be extended at least to the end of May.

ALCNS has made contingency plans in relation to the expected extension of suspension.

1. At this stage, all students will be required to do 4 weeks clinical practicum from 7 December 2009 to 3rd January 2010. The original schedule is 2 weeks for this placement.
2. Depending on how long the suspension lasts, you may be required to attend for 2 weeks of Simulated Clinical Practicum in the Nursing Skills Laboratory.
3. Please advise your availability for additional prac time from 15 June to 26 July as this is the period when the simulation will be planned if needed. Enter your reply in IVLE1108 Survey on “Availability for Additional Prac Time from 15 June to 26 July 2009” open from now till 12 noon, 11th May 2009 (Monday).
4. Polyclinic placement will be planned once the pandemic threat is over.

If the suspension is lifted, you will attend hospital placement as planned. We will keep you updated as soon as we know more.

PLEASE REGULARLY CHECK EMAIL AND IVLE FOR UPDATES.

Please be reminded that NUS recommends that no students leave Singapore during this time. If you do go to a country that has a diagnosed case you will be quarantined on your return for at least 7 days. This will affect your ability to complete your clinical practicum and may preclude you going on to the next Contemporary Nursing module next year if you have not completed the clinical practicum revised schedule."

this means, AY 09/10 Sem 1, then straight 4 weeks of clinicals for sze. and then, STRAIGHT back to school for Sem 2. after that, NINE weeks of clinical posting. no breaks. thanks. i think i will DIE man. thanks.

anyway, i have already made it known to ALCNS that i will NOT be available from 24th June to 3rd July 09. means, if there's no more porky flu, i will still be able to go HK with Lamerz, and FOC (assuming no change in dates) as well.
