** Korea'09 Day 4&5 **

Day 4 (30.12.2009)

SICK DAY~!!!!

Mummy and I fell to the stomach flu / food poisoning... whichever. whatever. Mei miraculously recovered and was feeling energetic. So Dad and her went to shop at Myeong Dong while mum and i camped in the hotel room. I slept the day away and drank only 2 cups of Milo the entire day (they don't have milo over there. so strictly speaking, it's 2 cups of hot chocolate from Nestle.).

I felt like vomiting the entire day. Even the sips of milo that went in felt wrong. It was as though there was a lot of pressure in my tummy trying to push anything and everything i ate out. The feeling was bad. It was horrible. I squatted by the toilet bowl for about 30 minutes in total. Poor me =(( on top of that, i felt giddy. i felt as though i would faint each time i stood up. Postural hypotension? I doubt so.

I contribute the fainting spells to hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose level) as I only had 2 cups of hot chocolate the entire day. Other signs and symptoms I experienced include weakness, lethargy, and palpitations, which are the S&S of hypoglycaemia! It is funny to note that whenever I feel faintish, the first thought that ran through my mind then was NOT squatting down to prevent myself from collapsing. The first thought was.... the 15 / 15 rule~!!!! LOL~!!! Nursing peeps! If you are reading this... I know you guys are so proud of me! hahahah! To the non-nursing peeps, the 15 / 15 rule means to mix 15g of glucose powder in approx 120ml of water and feeding it to the patient suffering from hypoglcaemia, and to check his blood glucose level 15 minutes later after the administration of the drink. HAHA~!!! Once a nurse, forever a nurse. Indeed.

FYI, mum diarrhoea-ed 6 times and vomited once! It's crazy! #1 Nursing diagnosis: Fluid and electrolyte imbalance.

No pictures for this day as I wasn't feeling well, and cos mei was recovering.

Day 5 (31.12.2009)

The last day of the year!

We went to Namdaemun in the day as both mum and i were feeling much better. Mei was 100% ok!

me!
evidence that I was sick the day before: tired eyes and chui face. Yes, I still managed to apply some eye shadow before leaving the hotel! HAHA~ vanity streak. it's like a sin for a female not to put on make-up in Korea!
evidence that the weather was cold: my red nose. secondly, the no-longer-steaming buns. The buns were steaming when the lady took them out from the steamer. But in less than 15 seconds from that act, the steam was all gone~ and the bun skins were cold~ man man man!

salty seafood noodles. once again, no steam!
nice flavour! But I did not finish as my appetite had not recovered 100%. Nothing beats a bowl of hot soup in that weather!

Mummy and Mei, with their hair all bun-ed up!
Crazy! In that weather?!??! Well, you know, the vanity streak!

Dad wanted to throw up half way through the meal... It was then that it dawned upon us that Dad had succumbed to the virus / bug. As such, we cabbed back to the hotel room asap.

Dad slept the day away without eating much. On the other hand, Mei and I went to... where else, Myeong dong, to shop while mum stayed in the hotel room to take care of Dad.

Mei, still in her bun-ned hair. In that weather.

and we saw something hilarious...

YEA~!!!! BREAD TALK~!!! IN KOREA~!!!
a sense of familiarity.
we avoided it.

talking about diversification.....
we went back to the hotel after this and slept at about 11pm. That was how we spent the last day of 2oo9. To those of you who wished me happy 2o1o and who were so concerned about my family's health over there, THANK YOU SO MUCH~!!! love you all! so touched to receive all the smses! =D

that's all folks! will blog another day!
